Wa latajidanna aqrabahum mawaddatan lilladhīna āmanū alladhīna qālū innā naṣārā; dhālika bi-anna minhum qissīsīna wa ruhbānan wa annahum lā yastakbirūn.
English Translation:

“And you will surely find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, ‘We are Christians.’ That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant.”
(Qur’an 5:82)

Transliteration:
Shahida Allāhu annahu lā ilāha illā huwa wal-malā’ikatu wa ulū al-ʿilmi qā’iman bil-qisṭ; lā ilāha illā huwa al-ʿazīzu al-ḥakīm.
English Translation:

“Allah Himself bears witness that there is no deity except Him—and so do the angels and those of knowledge—that He upholds justice. There is no deity except Him, the Almighty, the All-Wise.”
(Qur’an 3:18)

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

مَنْ قَالَ: لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ، دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ

Man qāla: lā ilāha illā Allāh, dakhala al-jannah.
English Translation:

“Whoever says, ‘There is no god but Allah’ will enter Paradise.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari)

“And those who are guided—He increases them in guidance and gives them their righteousness.”
(Qur’an 47:17)

Al-mu’minu lil-mu’mini kal-bunyān yashuddu ba‘ḍuhu ba‘ḍan.

“The believer to another believer is like a building, each part strengthening the other.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari)

“The one who repents from sin is like the one who has no sin.”

{قُولُوا آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ … لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُمْ}
Transliteration:
Qūlū āmannā billāhi wa mā unzila ilaynā wa mā unzila ilā Ibrāhīma wa Ismā‘īla wa Isḥāqa wa Ya‘qūba wa al-asbāṭ, wa mā ūtiya Mūsā wa ‘Īsā… lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadin minhum.
(Quran 2:136)

This verse shows that Islam is not a rejection of Christianity but a continuation and completion of the same divine message.

3. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on Freedom and Guidance

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized compassion and free will in matters of faith. He never forced anyone to believe but invited people through wisdom and good character.

“Whoever Allah guides, none can mislead him; and whoever He allows to stray, none can guide him.”

« مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللَّهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ، وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ »
Transliteration:
Man yahdihillāhu fa-lā muḍilla lah, wa man yuḍlil fa-lā hādīya lah.

Transliteration:
Qul yā ‘ibādi alladhīna asrafū ‘alā anfusihim, lā taqnaṭū min raḥmatillāh; inna Allāha yaghfiru adh-dhunūba jamī‘ā.
(Quran 39:53)

What the Prophet ﷺ Said About Those Who Embrace Islam

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ welcomed all who wished to enter Islam—regardless of their previous faith. He said:

مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَمَاتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ
Transliteration:
Man qāla lā ilāha illā Allāh wa māta ʿalā dhālik dakhala al-jannah.
English Translation:

“Whoever says, ‘There is no god but Allah,’ and dies upon that, will enter Paradise.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari)

This hadith shows that Islam accepts anyone who sincerely declares the testimony of faith—even if they were once Christian, Jewish, or of no religion. What matters is sincerity and belief in the Oneness of Allah.

 Will I Lose My Christian Heritage or Family Ties?

Wa in jāhadāka ʿalā an tushrika bī mā laysa laka bihi ʿilmun fa-lā tuṭiʿhumā wa ṣāḥib-humā fī ad-dunyā maʿrūfā.
English Translation:

“But if they strive to make you associate with Me that of which you do not know, do not obey them but accompany them in this world with kindness.”
(Qur’an 31:15)

This verse teaches balance—you may disagree in faith but must remain gentle, dutiful, and loving. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also said:

لَا يَقْطَعُ الْوَصْلَ إِلَّا مَنْ قَطَعَ اللّٰهُ مِنْهُ
Transliteration:
Lā yaqṭaʿu al-waṣla illā man qaṭaʿa Allāhu minhu.
English Translation:

“Only the one whom Allah has cut off will sever family ties.”
(Musnad Ahmad)
