All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the righteous, who revealed the Noble Quran to His Prophet Muhammad, the seal of the prophets. He sent him as a mercy to the world with guidance and the religion of truth.

I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, without partners, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, whom Allah supported with tremendous miracles and clear signs of prophethood.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the most miraculous of all messengers, with the most magnificent signs and clearest proofs. Scholars have compiled approximately 1,400 miracles and signs of his prophethood, all narrated through authentic chains known to hadith scholars. The following are twenty of his most remarkable miracles.

1. Prophet Muhammad Split the Moon in Two

During the Prophet’s time in Makkah, the disbelievers demanded a sign. In response to their challenge, Allah caused the moon to split into two distinct parts that the people could clearly see.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported in the authentic collections that the moon was split into two halves, and the Prophet said, “Bear witness!” Allah revealed verses commemorating this event: “The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder” (Quran 54:1-2).

Many Makkans who witnessed this miracle accepted Islam, and the Prophet regularly recited Surah Al-Qamar in congregational prayers to remind people of this prophetic sign.

2. Prophet Muhammad Journeyed to Jerusalem and Ascended Through the Heavens

In one miraculous night, the Prophet traveled from Makkah to Jerusalem with Angel Gabriel, then ascended through the seven heavens in both body and soul.

During this journey, he met previous prophets, witnessed Paradise and Hell, and received the commandment of five daily prayers directly from Allah. Allah says:

“Glory be to He who took His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque” (Quran 17:1).

This night journey demonstrated the Prophet’s unique spiritual status and brought fundamental teachings to the Muslim community.

3. Prophet Muhammad Fed a Thousand Men from Food for Five

During the Battle of the Trench, Jabir al-Ansari prepared a small meal of meat and bread sufficient for only five people as a gift for the Prophet.

The Prophet called all the workers digging the trench, approximately one thousand men, to come and eat. Miraculously, all one thousand soldiers ate until they were completely satisfied, yet the dough remained unchanged, and the pot of meat stayed full. This multiplication of food demonstrated Allah’s power working through His messenger.

4. Prophet Muhammad Made Water Flow from His Blessed Fingers

On multiple occasions when the Muslim army faced water scarcity, the Prophet performed an extraordinary miracle.

During the Battle of Tabuk, with thirty thousand soldiers desperately needing water, the Prophet placed his hands in a vessel, and water began flowing from between his fingers like springs.

The entire army drank their fill, watered all their camels, and filled every container they had, all from the water that flowed from the Prophet’s blessed hands.

5. Prophet Muhammad Made a Tree Trunk Cry from Longing

For years, the Prophet delivered Friday sermons while leaning against a date palm trunk in his mosque. When companions built him a proper pulpit, he left the trunk and ascended the new platform.

Immediately, the trunk began moaning and crying loudly like a child separated from its mother, audible to everyone in the mosque. The Prophet descended, embraced the trunk, and comforted it until it became silent.

This miracle showed that even inanimate objects recognized the Prophet’s blessed presence.

6. Prophet Muhammad Brought Rain by Raising His Hands

While delivering the Friday sermon, a man stood and asked the Prophet to pray for rain as the land was parched. Though the sky was completely clear without a single cloud, the Prophet raised his hands and supplicated to Allah.

Immediately, clouds formed, and heavy rain began falling while people were still in the mosque. The rain continued for an entire week.

At the next Friday prayer, people complained of flooding, so the Prophet prayed for the rain to stop over Madinah and move to the surrounding areas. Instantly, the rain ceased, and people walked out into sunshine, a double miracle witnessed by the entire congregation.

7. Prophet Muhammad Cured Ali’s Severe Eye Disease Instantly

On the day before the conquest of Khaybar, the Prophet announced: “Tomorrow I shall give the banner to a man through whom Allah will grant victory, one who loves Allah and His Messenger, and whom Allah and His Messenger love.”

When he called for Ali ibn Abi Talib, they informed him that Ali was suffering from severe ophthalmia and could barely see. The Prophet spat in Ali’s eyes and made supplication. Ali was instantly healed as if he had never been sick, and he led the Muslim army to victory exactly as the Prophet had foretold.

8. Prophet Muhammad Accurately Predicted Major Future Conquests

The Prophet made numerous specific prophecies about future events that came true exactly as he described. He promised his companions, while they were weak and persecuted, that they would conquer Makkah, Jerusalem, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and Persia.

He told them they would distribute the treasures of the Persian and Byzantine emperors.

He predicted specific trials, the spread of Islam, and detailed events that would occur after his death. Every single prediction occurred precisely as he foretold, proving his connection to divine revelation.

9. Prophet Muhammad Displayed Unmatched Moral Perfection

The Prophet possessed such extraordinary character, wisdom, justice, compassion, and nobility that his very personality testified to his prophethood. He was known as “Al-Amin” (the trustworthy) even by his enemies.

His honesty, mercy, humility, courage, generosity, and patience surpassed all others. He forgave those who persecuted him, wept in prayer, lived simply despite having authority, and treated everyone with dignity.

His sublime character itself was a miracle, as Allah says: “And indeed, you are of a great moral character” (Quran 68:4).

10. Prophet Muhammad Transformed Illiterate Arabs into World Leaders

The Prophet came from an unlettered nation with no scripture, philosophy, or sophisticated civilization. Yet within 23 years, he transformed these desert tribes into the most learned, just, and powerful civilization on earth.

Despite facing opposition from all sides, Jews, Christians, pagans, and powerful empires, with only a few supporters and no wealth or army initially, he successfully established a complete way of life that has endured for over fourteen centuries.

This unprecedented transformation testifies to divine support.

11. Prophet Muhammad Appeared When Humanity Desperately Needed Guidance

The Prophet emerged at a time when the entire world had fallen into darkness: Arabs worshipped idols, Persians worshipped fire and practiced incest, Romans practiced paganism, Jews distorted their scripture, and Christians believed in the Trinity.

Humanity had lost its way in ignorance, oppression, and false beliefs. The Prophet’s timely arrival with pure monotheism, justice, and guidance fulfilled a desperate universal need, proving Allah’s mercy and wisdom in sending him as “a mercy to all worlds” (Quran 21:107).

12. Prophet Muhammad Revived a Dead Nation and Made It the Best Community

Through Allah’s permission, the Prophet took a people steeped in ignorance, tribalism, violence, and idol worship and completely transformed them.

He educated them after ignorance, honored them after humiliation, united them after centuries of division, and purified their hearts until they became the best nation ever raised for humanity. Within one generation, these same Arabs became teachers of the world, exemplars of justice, and carriers of divine guidance to all continents.

13. Prophet Muhammad Fulfilled Prophecies from Previous Scriptures

Earlier prophets explicitly foretold the coming of the Prophet Muhammad. The Torah and Gospel originally contained his description, characteristics, and mission. Allah says:

“Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel” (Quran 7:157).

Many Jewish and Christian scholars recognized him from their scriptures and accepted Islam, while others concealed these prophecies. This fulfillment of ancient predictions spanning centuries validates his authentic prophethood.

14. Prophet Muhammad Received the Inimitable Quran

The greatest ongoing miracle is the Quran itself, which the unlettered Prophet recited with perfect eloquence, profound wisdom, and flawless preservation.

He challenged the most eloquent Arabs, masters of poetry and rhetoric, to produce even one chapter like it, but they failed despite having every motivation to discredit him. Allah says:

“Say, ‘If mankind and the jinn gathered together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants'” (Quran 17:88).

15. Prophet Muhammad Recited Detailed Histories He Never Studied

Though unlettered and having never studied with scholars, the Prophet accurately recited detailed stories of previous prophets, ancient nations, and historical events that only a few learned rabbis and priests knew.

He described Moses, Jesus, Abraham, Noah, Joseph, and others with remarkable accuracy, including conversations and details not widely known. Allah confirmed:

“That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this” (Quran 11:49).

16. Prophet Muhammad Brought Comprehensive Guidance for All Aspects of Life

The Prophet received divine guidance covering every dimension of human existence: beliefs, worship, morality, family life, business transactions, governance, warfare, peace, personal development, and social relations.

The Quran addresses theology, law, history, science, psychology, and spirituality with perfect balance. It guided the Arabs from ignorance to enlightenment and continues guiding humanity today.

Allah says: “And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims” (Quran 16:89).
