The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever gives in charity even a date from lawful earnings—and Allah only accepts that which is good—Allah accepts it with His right hand and grows it for its owner, just as one of you grows a foal until it becomes like a mountain.”

The Prophet ﷺ said, “There is not a day in which people wake up except that two angels descend. One says, ‘O Allah, give recompense to the one who spends (in charity),’ and the other says, ‘O Allah, destroy the one who withholds.’” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari 1374; Muslim 1010)

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Seven will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the Day when there is no shade except His … and a man who gives in charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has spent.” (Narrated by Al-Bukhari 1423)

This hadith emphasizes the importance of sincerity and humility in giving. Secret charity avoids showing off and protects the dignity of the recipient. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The world is only for four types of people: a servant whom Allah has given wealth and knowledge, and he uses it to be mindful of his Lord, maintain family ties, and fulfill the rights of Allah; this person is in the best of ranks.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “The best charities are: providing a shade in the way of Allah, a servant for the sake of Allah, or a saddle camel in the way of Allah.”

عن أبي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: “جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا؟ قَالَ: (أَنْ تَصَدَّقَ وَأَنْتَ صَحِيحٌ شَحِيحٌ تَخْشَى الفَقْرَ، وَتَأْمُلُ الغِنَى، وَلاَ تُمْهِلُ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الحُلْقُومَ، قُلْتَ لِفُلاَنٍ كَذَا، وَلِفُلاَنٍ كَذَا وَقَدْ كَانَ لِفُلاَنٍ)” رواه البخاري (1419)

Abu Huraira (RA) reported: A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, “O Messenger of Allah, which charity is the greatest in reward?  ” He ﷺ said, “To give charity while you are healthy but stingy, fearing poverty, yet hoping for wealth, and do not delay until your death approaches, saying to so-and-so this, and to so-and-so that, when it has already been given.” 

This hadith teaches that the best charity is given while one is able, even if one fears financial difficulty. Delaying charity until the end of life reduces the sincerity and immediate impact of giving. Acting promptly demonstrates trust in Allah and maximizes the reward of one’s generosity.

عن أبي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «مَنْ نَفَّسَ عَنْ مُؤْمِنٍ كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ الدُّنْيَا نَفَّسَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَنْ سَتَرَ مُسْلِمًا سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَمَنْ يَسَّرَ عَلَى مُعْسِرٍ يَسَّرَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَاللَّهُ فِي عَوْنِ الْعَبْدِ مَا كَانَ الْعَبْدُ فِي عَوْنِ أَخِيهِ»

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever relieves a believer from one of the hardships of this world, Allah will relieve him of one of the hardships of the Day of Judgment. Whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever eases the burden of a debtor, Allah will ease his burden in this world and the Hereafter. Allah will help a servant as long as he helps his brother.”

This hadith highlights that acts of kindness and support are powerful forms of charity. Helping others, concealing their faults, or easing their burdens carries immense reward, both in this life and the Hereafter.
