The Prophet ﷺ himself said:

“إِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُ لأُتَمِّمَ مَكَارِمَ الأَخْلاقِ”

Innamā bu‘ithtu li-utammima makārima al-akhlāq

“I have been sent to perfect noble character.” (Sunan Abu Dawood)

 Inna hādhā al-Qur’āna yahdī lil-latī hiya aqwam wa yubashshiru al-mu’minīna alladhīna ya‘malūna al-ṣāliḥāt anna lahum ajran ‘aẓīman

“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most suitable and gives glad tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.” (Surah Al-Isra 17:9)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

«أَنَا قُرْآنٌ مُتَجَسِّدٌ فَاتَّبِعُونِي تَهْتَدُوا»

“Anā Qur’ān mutajassid fa-ittabi‘ūnī tahtadū”

“I am the Qur’an walking among you. Follow me, and you will be rightly guided.” (Reported by Al-Bayhaqi)

Laqad kāna lakum fī Rasūli Allāhi uswatun ḥasanah liman kāna yarjū Allāha wa-l-yawma al-ākhira wa dhakara Allāha kathīran

“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah often.” (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:21)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

«أَكْمَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِيمَانًا أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا»

Akmalu al-mu’minīna īmānan aḥsanuhum khuluqan

“The most complete of the believers in faith is the one with the best character.” (Sunan At-Tirmidhi)

Another Hadith highlights his honesty:

«إِنَّمَا أُعْطِيتُ الصِّدْقَ وَالإِمَانَةَ»

Innamā u‘ṭītu al-ṣidqa wa al-imānah

“I have been given honesty and trustworthiness.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ كُنتُمْ أَعْدَاءً فَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُم بِنِعْمَتِهِ إِخْوَانًا

Wa-i‘taṣimū bi-ḥabli Allāhi jamī‘an wa-lā tafarraqū wa-udhkurū ni‘mata Allāhi ‘alaykum idh kuntum a‘dā’an fa-allafa bayna qulūbikum fa-aṣbaḥtum bini‘matihi ikhwanan

“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you—when you were enemies, He brought your hearts together so that by His grace you became brothers.” (Surah Al-Imran 3:103)

 Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

«مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُؤْذِي أَخَاهُ بِمَلَكِهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ لِي أَنْتَ رَسُولِي وَقَدْ أَحْسَنْتَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ»

 Mā min muslimin yu’dhī akhahu bimalakihi fa-inna Allāha yaqūlu li anta Rasūlī wa qad aḥsanta bil-mu’minīn

“No Muslim harms his brother in faith; indeed Allah says to me: ‘You are My Messenger, and you have treated the believers well.’” (Paraphrased from Sahih Muslim)

Wa mā arsalnā min qablika min rasūlin illā nūḥī ilayhi annahu lā ilāha illā anā fa‘budūnī

“And We did not send any messenger before you, but We revealed to him: ‘There is no god but Me, so worship Me.’” (Surah Al-Anbiya 21:25)

Note: While this verse is about all prophets, the Qur’an emphasizes Muhammad ﷺ as the last and final prophet, giving him a unique role of mercy and intercession for his followers.

The Prophet ﷺ said

«كُلُّ نَبِيٍّ يُؤَتَى بِأُمَّتِهِ فَيُغْفَرُ لَهُمْ، إِلَّا أَنَا أَشْفَعُ لأُمَّتِي»

Kullu nabiyyin yu’ta bi-ummatihi fayughfaru lahum, illā ana ashfa‘u li-ummatī

“Every prophet will have intercession for his followers except me; I will intercede for my Ummah.” (Sahih Muslim)

The Prophet ﷺ also said:

«أَوَّلُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ أُمَّتِي»

’Awwalu man yadkhulu al-jannah ummatī“The first of my followers to enter Paradise will be from my Ummah.” (Sahih Muslim)

This demonstrates his ongoing care for believers, ensuring guidance and mercy not just in this life but in the Hereafter.

6. He Brought a Complete Way of Life

“And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it.” (Surah Al-Hashr 59:7)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

«أَنَا قُرْآنٌ مُتَجَسِّدٌ فَاتَّبِعُونِي تَهْتَدُوا»

Anā Qur’ān mutajassid fa-ittabi‘ūnī tahtadū

“I am the Qur’an walking among you. Follow me, and you will be rightly guided.” (Reported by Al-Bayhaqi)

Wa mā arsalnāka illā mubashshiran wa-nadhīran

“And We have not sent you except as a bringer of good news and a warner.” (Surah Al-Furqan 25:56)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

«إِنِّي أُرْسِلْتُ لأُكَمِّلَ مَكَارِمَ الأَخْلَاقِ وَأُعَلِّمَ التَّوْحِيدَ»

Inni ursiltu li-ukammila makārima al-akhlaq wa u‘allima al-tawheed

“I have been sent to perfect noble character and to teach monotheism (Tawheed).” (Paraphrased from Sunan Abu Dawood)

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍ وَأُنثَىٰ وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ

Yā ayyuhā al-nāsu innā khalaqnākum min dhakarin wa unthā wa ja‘alnākum shu‘ūban wa qabā’ila lita‘ārafū inna akramakum ‘inda Allāhi atqākum

“O mankind! We created you from a male and a female and made you into peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.” (Surah Al-Hujurat 49:13)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

«مَا فَرَّقَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً فَاحْتَقَرَتْ عَلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ إِلَّا أُخِذَتْ»

Mā farraqa Allāhu ummatan fa-iḥtaqarat ‘alā ummah illā ukhidhat

“Allah did not divide a nation and show favor to another except that He would hold them accountable.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, paraphrased)

«خَيْرُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ»

Khayrukum man ta‘allama al-Qur’āna wa ‘allamahu

“The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Al-ṣabru ḍiyā’

“Patience is illumination.” (Sunan Al-Tirmidhi)

Another Hadith highlights his bravery:

«لَمْ يَخَفْ رُجُوعَ الْأَعْدَاءِ وَوَقَفَ لِلْحَقِّ»

Lam yakhaf rujū‘ al-a‘dā’ wa waqafa lil-ḥaqq

“He did not fear the return of enemies and stood firmly for the truth.” (Paraphrased from Sahih Al-Bukhari)
